The Saracen village
Pastel houses, Moorish arches, alleys that smell of salt and basil. The Saracen Tower watching the sea for a thousand years.
Undeniably beautiful.
Varigotti is a hamlet of Finale Ligure, in the province of Savona. A pedestrian village squeezed between the Via Aurelia and the shoreline, a Moorish settlement of ochre, dusty-pink and whitewashed houses. Time moves differently here.
The Baia dei Saraceni
A scenic bay east of the Varigotti promontory, stretching all the way to Malpasso. One of Liguria's longest free beaches, crystal-clear water, fine sand, and the pastel houses that frame it. To the east: the wildest free beach. To the west: the historic beach clubs of Varigotti. Hotel Arabesque is 30 metres from the shoreline.
A thousand years facing the sea
The Saracen Tower has guarded the promontory since the 10th century. Below it, the Moorish village: arches, covered passages, yellow and pink houses, alleys that open straight onto the sand. Varigotti is an Arab-flavoured enclave along the Via Aurelia — a piece of ancient Mediterranean that survived the centuries.
Finale Ligure, MTB capital of the world
The trails of the Finalese are legendary: single tracks through olive groves and Mediterranean scrub, descents to the sea, the Finale Bike Park just a few kilometres away. Every year thousands of riders from around the world choose this coast. From the hotel you can ride out to the Manie plateau and the Riviera's most iconic trails. Secure bike storage on request.
Paths perched above the sea
The Pilgrim's Path from Varigotti to Noli — one of Liguria's most scenic stretches: white cliffs, scrub, the blue of the Tyrrhenian under your feet. Capo Noli and the Grotta dei Falsari. And the Cinque Terre, Portofino, Bergeggi on day trips. Varigotti is the perfect base to set out on foot.
